So things have been a little quiet around here so lets have a brain storm session. What are your ideas for bringing new members on and to boost activity? I noticed MO is dead too so let's get serious about our site! Ideas post them folks!

-and a few other sites as well. I've been thinking that it might be about where people now spend their time on the internet. Perhaps the crowds are over on facebook and twitter or just plain texting?
Think of it this way - A couple years ago there were the core group of us who were always talking about mods, problems and off-roading while the vast majority would just chime in now and then when something would get personal or political....
Now the "others" are gone and our core group are relatively experts on the ways of the trucks.
We used to have lots of questions by the newbies about what kinds of tow straps and d-shackles to use; how big a tire we could stuff under the wheel wells; roof racks and lights; even the mundane stuff about various kinds of lubricants - -
Those questions rarely come up any more and there are only so many treks I can write about anymore. We also had the splinter groups like the New Jersey group and the Ohio/Kentucky group that have fallen by the wayside.
About the only site that I go to that is still quite active is the Land Rover Addicts who are of a world-wide make-up and get input from all English speaking countries. In fact several Canadian groups use tha LRA use the North American section for all of their club correspondence. Those of us south of the 49th parallel could even meet there....

Publicity. I tell people about it, but that doesn't mean they're gonna come over. A few years ago the Southern NH LR board was pretty active. Now people have gone their separate ways and no one posts much there anymore. I personally like the quiet. I can't keep up with Dweb because I don't visit the boards every day coz I'm busy. Yeah, I like facebook, but the Rover stuff over there is pretty quiet too... and Ron doesn't have one so it's no fun ;-)

Word of mouth goes well. I'd do that a whole lot more than buying advertising. If the people want to come, they will. Maybe I'll mention it a little more often...

Must be the time of year... No one heading out on road trips yet, recovering from Christmas spending, not feeling the excitement of off-roading, no big rallies or festivals coming up soon, etc.
MO is dead quiet, the OVLR site is (always) quiet...
Maybe because the vehicles we have interest in are now 6, 7, 10, 14 years old that there is less interest in them. A dying breed, perhaps?

Hmm - The "dying breed" bit might be a bit of truth -> The newer models, LR2, LR3, LR4, RR Sport and Range Rover have very little in common with the Discos with solid axles, real frames, etc....
As for the "time of year" bit; that's certainly not true for me. I really like getting out in the snow and cold. I'm hoping that is snows a lot tomorrow so that I can compare the Sehoo Mtn area with what I trekked over klast Wednesday.
