Ran out to 5 Mile Pass Recreation area with the Great Basin Rover Group. Met up at 0900 at a nearby gas station for fueling rovers and kids, then led out to the trailhead.
The day and night prior the Salt Lake valleys received a generous amount of fresh snow, 8-12 inches in most areas on the valley floor, ski resorts reporting upwards of several feet... so we were expecting a pretty deep run.
Trailhead saw 4-6 inches, some nice steeps and heavy snow through the morning made for interesting traction for me - no CDL and the tres hombre's kept me working the two foot techniques all morning.
Up and around the knoll to a small catchment lakethrough fresh powder, the other trucks were a lifted and kitted D1, stock D1, a beautiful D90, and myself in my stock coil sprung D2.
On the way out from the catchment lake we ran a dry river, the last bit of fun being the climb out - 40' hill at about 30 degrees with wet clay traction. Took a few runs and used momentum to top it with cheers from the kids in the back.
